I love being in my 50s because I appreciate the beauty of this earth so much more. This was my view as I waited for the Creek Excursion at Brookgreen Gardens at Murrells Inlet in South Carolina.

Do you recognize this guy? We were in downtown Aiken, South Carolina last week and found this guy and some other familiar friends “hanging around.” Aiken’s Downtown Development Authority hosts a scarecrow contest each year. I snapped a few pictures of ones that caught my eye.

From Barefoot Landing to Broadway at the Beach, Myrtle Beach is ready for fall and Halloween. And if you scroll through you will notice the ocean sunrise is just as beautiful in October.

Often when we are traveling something catches our eye that is not on our agenda. The Trinity Episcopal Cathedral is across the street from the South Carolina State House on Sumter Street in Columbia. We were dodging rain during our trip and I only had time to get this shot of the beautiful church. The church was built in 1814. It survived Sherman's march through South Carolina but the rectory was burned.

I am always amazed at the beauty of a sunrise, especially on the ocean. Myrtle Beach will always be in my heart.

It was a gorgeous day to visit Brookgreen Gardens. We are wore out as my mama used to say!
