Great Southern eating: Barbecue joints you must try

Barbecue is a favorite not just down South but in many other regions. And what better way to celebrate summer and the July 4th holiday than by eating some grilled meat drenched in the sauce of your choice. I have been to Kansas City a few times since my sister moved there and I will [...]

Throw back Thursday to our trip to Noccalula Falls to see their spectacular light display. It’s open this year and I highly recommend it! I am doing more crafting than traveling due to Trigeminal Neuralgia. I made this pillow for our couch out of two cute placemats at Dollar Tree. I don’t sew well so I hot glued it. I always have batting on hand so I made this for less than $4. #dollartree #dollartreecrafts #christmascrafts It has been a while! There have been a lot of changes. First, after thinking over what makes me happy, I am focusing on journalism and magazine writing. It's more difficult and time-consuming but it's what I love. God has blessed and I am staying very busy.
I am doing some travel pieces on assignment (in other words, for money). Because the 'work' belongs to the client, I can't really share it here until it is published. We have done some cool things recently and we will share some soon. I won't be writing on my blog very much but I will get back to sharing on social media. To be honest, I write between 5,000 to 10,000 words every week so after I am done with "work," I really don't want to write more.
To relax during this busy time, I have started crafting a lot, again. I won three prizes in the local fairs this year for my cross-stitching. I will be sharing more about my crafting and traveling in the upcoming weeks on social media.
Here are my three prize winners. For those of you who are cross-stitchers, the large framed piece is from My Big Toe. I did this one in honor of my late parents and it hangs in our living room. The mason jar with pumpkins design was a ton of fun to do after a busy day of writing! The design is part of a series from Hands on Design based on the drawings of Priscilla Blain. The wreath design came from a magazine I no longer have.

I look forward to reconnecting to everyone! #crosstitch #stitchingwiththehousewives #travelblogger #writer #crafting I have not been on social media much because I have been working a lot and exploring some great small towns. Here is a cool mural we found in downtown Manchester, Tennessee. My family enjoyed exploring this place! August 20 will never be the same for us as it’s the day my sweet mother left us. I will always treasure this picture even though I am more than 50 pounds lighter now. I know she is cheering my health journey on from her heavenly home. I was very young when Elvis died but I still remember the impact. I am going to put some Elvis songs on my playlist as I write today. What are your Elvis memories?
