The bears of Carrabelle, Florida

Some crazy things have happened to us on our journeys through the South. But I don't think there is anything as crazy as what happened to us on the way to Carrabelle, Florida one December night. I resisted the urge to start this story with "it was a dark night." But it was. Steve and … Continue reading The bears of Carrabelle, Florida

Why am I posting a picture of a coffee cup? I have COVID and looking at this cup and the others in my collection makes me feel better. I am using this one for my saltwater gargle that is helping with my horrible sore throat. I may be scarce for a while as I fight this awful stuff. I am hoping your week is better!
The Instagram post I made this morning was number 666. Not today devil! So here’s a photo of me and my son having breakfast at @frothymonkey in Chattanooga a couple of weeks ago.

Macon’s Sports Hall of Fame has plenty of Atlanta Braves history include a list of the state’s iconic sports broadcasters. Today is a hard day for some close to me. Some have lost their mother, some are stressed out at work and some are just dealing with never-ending hardships. One of the best things about getting out of the house and exploring is finding beauty. I don’t know about you but seeing nature calms my spirit. These sunflowers are literally in my son’s front yard and he shared them with me. I hope they bring you some joy today wherever you are.
I grew up listening to country music so Nashville is my favorite big city in the South. Here are some pictures from my downtown I have compiled from my many visits.
I love social media memories because it reminds us of places we have been. This time last year we visited Paradise Gardens just outside of Summerville, Georgia. I worked at two newspapers less than 30 miles from there for years but never visited. I wish I had a chance to sit down with the late Howard Finster. I did talk to someone who had the chance to meet him. You can read about it here. https://southernplacesandfaces.com/2021/10/07/from-the-pulpit-to-the-palette-paradise-gardens-and-the-legacy-of-howard-finster/
